The Lady Awakens
Story so Far
Chapter 1 The group started on the road traveling to the town of Maleth, encountering a goblin road block, in which they got their ass handed to them and ran away like cowards.
After meeting various characters resting for the night and Jordan failing to please a woman in a brothel they acquired their first quest. Kill the goblin leader.
After slaying the goblin roadblock, butchering their way through a series of caves with the help of a bag of ball bearings they reached the goblin leader who was named Jagged Teeth who the party fought.
Inside the cave of this goblin they found a large crystal ball, when touched they were mentally transferred to another location and had a discussion with The Lady.
Chapter 2 After this excursion the party received their payment and grew curious and noticed there had been various people around town talking about the towns ruling noble and how he hadn’t been seen for months. The party decided to head to his house on the hill, and were surprised to find that the gates were locked and closed and a dead body was visible. The party progressed further into the house after a mishap with two animated suits of armour that nearly killed the warlock(Ryan).
Exploring the house they found signs of battle, a body pinned to the wall by a sword, another that seemed to have died peacefully in its sleep. And a carpet, that moved. After a viscous battle with this piece of fabric with the party nearly being felled in the process they beat it down, and the Rogue(Kim) accidentally killed the Ranger (Jordan) while attempting to heal him.
After rushing back to town and scraping up all the cash they can, they pay for a spell to bring him back to life. Unknown to the party however he doesn’t come back alone…
They later return to the house of the noble blades in hand and descend to the basement finding a dead being standing there staring at a crystal ball familiar to them. A fight ensures where the Paladin (Austin) shows his prowess and slays the Wight who spends the fight screaming about “needing to take life to bring her back”.
After this duel the party receives their first magical item from the Wight (Demetri) and then touch the crystal.
Once more they speak with the Lady who seems much more annoyed at the party.
Chapter 3 The party began to grow more concerned about this “lady” and what she was planning so decided to do something. That night the Ranger moved out into the forest and tracked down a pet to bond with, a Pseudodragon which he named Shadow.
When he returned to the inn, he found all the patrons had been slaughtered and heard noises upstairs.
The party was under attack by a group of Assassins with tattoos on their heads of a tree with eyeballs replacing the leaves. after almost being killed the Ranger was assisted by his new friend Ninzihr who materialized from the Rangers shadow striking with its claws killing the assassin.
After searching the bodies they found the location of Elven ruins that they would collect their payment from, and the parties next clue.
Chapter 4 The Party then gathered together and moved into the old woods seeking out these ruins. They quickly find them and find a group of orcs standing around looking dangerous. In a surprising show of intellect the party prepare an ambush, with the Rogue and Ranger climbing trees and loosing arrows, assisted by the Warlocks magic and a javelin or two from the Paladin, slaying most of the orcs with ease, until two get close and the Paladin engages them fighting them in hand to hand combat, and discovering that Orcs are better then him with a blade, luckily it was a 5v2 (a dog and Shadow helped a little)
The Party then descended into the ruins themselves now and found a group of dead orcs hanging from the sealing with puncture marks in their necks. Right on cue a Vampire Spawn attacked the party hungry for blood, dealing grievous blows, but once more the Paladin kicked ass using his holy powers to weaken the dead creature.
Chapter 5 The party rested in the ruins, half dead from this encounter sealing themselves in the room and hearing movements of orcs throughout the night, but they were not discovered. Leaving the room they found a group of orcs who had broken into an old armory and were in the process of looting it. After slaying these orcs they proceeded to loot the room with the ranger taking BOTH magical items they found.
They progressed through the ruins slaying orcs they encountered until they found a sleek tunnel and a spell scroll case. moving down this tunnel for over 500ft they entered a much older set of ruins and encountered a orc warchief who sent his guards against the party. After they slew these guards he smirked and transformed into another being, a merchant the Warlock had met. Throughout the ‘fight’ and i use the term loosely the creature shifted regularly into different forms including all members of the party as he slowly beat them into the ground leaving them unconscious and destroying the tunnel behind him.
Chapter 6 As the party slowly gained consciousness and realised their predicament they began to explore the temple slowly finding a wondrous temple to “The Lady” and a ghost of one of the Priestesses who could not move on because an artifact had been stolen. The party was informed by this ghost that the ‘Lady’ was a goddess, of nature and protection and patron to the Elves long ago. The party decided to help this spirit out and recover the ‘Staff of the Lady" and cleanse the temple of the Rat King.
The party move through the temple and encounter a Minotaur, who is the Ratking and duel him in a fighting pit, slaying him after a close battle in which the Warlock decided to pull the stick out of his ass and start using magic in combat blasting the Ratking with massive destructive magic gaining both the annoyance and respect of the party, as they remember the many close calls where he sat on his ass.
After they claim the Staff and free the spirit the Ranger allows his friend to feast upon the soul of this Spirit…
Chapter 7 After the party rest they leave the temple and to their confusion they emerging in a ring of mushrooms in an enchanted forest.
In this forest they realise after a few hours it is permanently dusk and figure out after some discussion they are in another world, the Feywild.
As they travel through the Feywild they encounter a creature called a Leshen who attacks the party before retreating after taking some damage.
The soon encounter a Treant who told them of a corruption spreading throughout the Feywild and directs them to the town of Felsa Anore where he hopes the party can find a way to help his woods.
Along the way the party encounters a Revenant who is hunting the Paladin, seeking him out. They quickly work out it is the same Wight they slew earlier who is attempting to kill the Paladin for taking “her away” from him. When he is slain he whispered “ill be back” and the party decided to turn his corpse into mulch.
They continued to travel encountering a Merchant who they traded with briefly before moving on.
Finally they encountered a group of Bugbears led by Heket who could speak basic common. This Bugbear proposed the party join them in a raid of the small town of Bully-ug. The Warlock who doesn’t understand the concept of Morals agrees to this proposal against the wishes of the Paladin who is duty bound to protect the weak. After the Paladin converses with Heket trying to change his ways he realises it is impossible. So to the Warlocks surprise he pulls a blade and strikes Heket. A brutal fight ensures where the party captures the Bugbears. Except for one… who slew the Rogues Dog eating a small part of it. The Gnomish Rogue then beheaded this Bugbear in revenge. After conversing with Heket the Warlock made a deal where the Bugbears would serve him, but quickly afterwards the barbaric ways of the bugbears drew the parties eye and they slew them much to the Warlocks dismay, losing his first small army…
Chapter 8 In their travels the party further encountered some scenes of battle, one from long ago, a group of skeletons in rusted plate mail and an old standard. After touching the standard an old ghost appeared telling the party to leave the standard alone . the party not one for diplomacy instead antagonized the ghost and ended up fighting it….and the many skeletons around. Once more the Paladin proved he was fucking awesome and made the Undead run in fear and the party easily dispatched them.
The second scene was more recent, with a pile of dead orcs running from a tower. seemingly like they were charging outwards, while searching the tower the party found a broken silver bow.
FINALLY! the party reached the town and gained entrance after paying the toll to enter the town and after introducing themselves to various groups, The Paladin and the Warlock were tested in a duel against Zarark a Paladin of Mielikki to show the Paladins skill.
After this the party is given a few quests with gold and renown, to receive a large crystal from a tribe of lizard men that came from the wreck of a flying boat and to hunt a Roper that had been terrorising a group of gnomes trying to expand their underground towns. The party always a sucker for helping the little guy (except for that cunty warlock) decides to hunt the roper to save the gnomes. In a bloody battle in which the party is almost slain by the large beast. In this fateful with the party on the brink of death, even the pet dragon joined the playing field fighting beside the paladin giving the rest of the party time to bring the beast down, but its its final moments as the roper lashed towards the paladin his protective magic turned the blow away from him…and instead targeted the pet dragon, Shadow tearing him into small pieces and swallowing what was left.
After this event the party shocked by their near death experience took a few days to rest and prepare, in which The Ranger and The Rogue joining the Silver Bows. In this time they encountered an older Half Elf who joined them in their adventures to make sure they didn’t run off with the magical crystal they had been tasked to retrieve.
Chapter 9 Finally the party and their new companion set off into the swamps seeking the territory of the Lizard Folk trekking off into the forest. Soon they are attacked by a pair of Manticores, huge flying beasts that shot spikes out of their tails. However unlike most beasts that the party had thought these where intelligent, posing a unique challenge to the party. However when one began to flee the Ranger leaps from his position onto the Manticores back, plunging both blades into its back…..failing to kill it. As the manticore soars away the Ranger begins to realise that he while looking cool had fucked himself royally and as a stray attack hit his manticore, contemplated his life as he began to plummet down towards the ground, tumbling and smashing into the ground, somehow living.
After they move through the swamp the party finds a large temple in which the Lizard Folk seem to have taken to inhabiting. After watching them for a day, they notice large groups of lizard folk hunting parties moving in and out of the temple. The Group attempts to ambush and slay this party, but fail spectacularly most of them escaping back to the temple and alerting the whole host.
The next day after spending time watching over the temple, the oh so brave ranger decided to distract the patrolling lizardfolk, raining down arrows and using his amazing pet, Shadow before using his superior speed to run backwards firing arrows into the small horde of 20 or so lizardfolk. While this occurred the rest of the party decided to venture into the dark temple, stumbling over traps and almost waking the resting 30 lizardfolk who would have promptly slaughtered the party. After coming to their senses they instead took the right hand turn creeping up the tunnels very quietly….except for the loud CLANK CLANK CLANK from the paladins newly crafted plate armour, but miraculously they weren’t heard…
Soon they found a room full of lizardfolk in front of a fire, one wearing a shiny diamond necklace, which gained the parties lustful glare, and the assassin decided it was time to test her new abilities, and with help from the Half Elven sorcerer, turning her invisible she slipped into the room, blade in hand positioning herself behind the shamanistic figure, while the warlock spider climbed onto the roof of the chamber and attempted to assassinate the figure.
She then failed miserably, despite her invisibility, tripping over her own feet and landing in the fire, burning herself and revealing her presence to the lizardfolk, which promptly saw her as dinner.
As the rest of the party frantically rushed in to save her, with the shaman revealing to the paladin the disadvantage of covering yourself in a full suit of plate, heating his platemail roasting him inside his own armour, the ranger outside the temple desperately dodging spears being hurled at him, hid under a large tree root. After the horde passed he slipped back towards the temple hoping to assist the party.
And walked in on the party after this…attempt at a battle with three lizardfolk.
After using their potions and healing spells the party began to advance into the heart of the temple, the birthing pool, a massive pool, filled with eggs all bathed in the glowing light of the crystal they were seeking. Two shamans and a massive lizard king wielding a trident stand guard, and after warning the party they cant win, a battle ensured.
The paladin charged forwards to duel the king, the warlock and sorcerer casting spells against the shamans in a great arcane battle, the ranger raining arrows on the on the king, attempting to shift the battle against the king who was tossing the paladin around. The rangers pet in a feat of power poisoned one of the shamans, knocking him unconscious, the rogue making up for her previous… escapades managed to slit the other shamans throat.
With this sudden turn of events the party moved on the king casting him low as the paladin fought desperately on the edge of death, dragonborn against lizardkin, the lizard falling with the help of his friends.
After casting levitation of the crystal the party began to flee, bloody and beaten, watching all the eggs slowly dying as the crystal was removed.
As they left the party encountered the previous group the ranger had made acquaintances with came back, and seeing the stolen crystals, flew into a rage charging them, the party in no condition to fight could only flee. However the situation grew dire, the ranger the only one able to outrun them, the gnome was far behind, and the warlock grew desperate, drawing his fireball scroll, desperately trying to decipher the arcane text of old drawing on ancient powers summoning a vast ball of fire scattering the horde into dust.
